Workman’s compensation wasn’t something I pondered about until I had my very first occupational accident a a couple months ago. I was stocking the warehouse shelves when it transpired. Someone in the other aisle was employing the forklift to place a pallet, and in doing so knocked a crate of CD’s off the shelf. The container crashed into my right shoulder. The brunt force smacked me to the floor hard. Right when I hit the floor I grasped something was horribly wrong. The pain was immediate and acute. But my mind was elsewhere, because as someone without health care I didn’t think I’d be able to pay for health care if my employer figured out some way to get out of footing my medical bills for my freshly dislocated shoulder. You can see I’ve never trusted bosses. Luckily, that wouldn’t be a problem. As it turned out, my company had wisely bought workman’s compensation insurance. So basically I had no reason to worry. My hospital bills were already on their way to being paid. I was elated to learn the insurance company would even reimburse me for lost wages caused by my accident. Workers Comp WV
